Policies & Information

Everything you need to know about how Strong Start Swim School operates.

Strong Start operates on a perpetual enrolment basis, ensuring that each student's class booking is reserved on an ongoing basis. Enrolments continue year-round, including during school holiday periods. Lessons are not scheduled on public holidays where classes would otherwise fall, or during the annual shutdown period, which consists of two weeks over the Christmas period.

All class bookings will remain active until written notice of cancellation is provided via email, in accordance with the cancellation policy outlined in the terms and conditions. Lesson changes or new bookings may only be made up to a maximum of seven (7) days in advance. Once a class booking has been made, payment and direct debit details must be submitted within twenty-four (24) hours via the Simply Swim app to confirm and secure the booking.

All children aged three (3) years and over who are able to swim independently without the use of flotation aids or assistance are required to complete a swimming assessment prior to enrolment. Children who are non-swimmers may be enrolled directly into the program without an assessment.

The monthly fee per student is payable on the first business day of each month and applies to lessons scheduled for the following month. Fees are calculated based on the total number of available swim lessons for that month, in accordance with the current Annual Strong Start Calendar applicable to the relevant class booking. Planned pool closures, including scheduled maintenance and public holidays, are incorporated into the monthly fee calculation, and no fees are charged for these closures.

Swim School members must make payment via direct debit through the Simply Swim app using a personal bank account or a debit or credit card. The initial payment will be charged on a pro rata basis and must be paid within twenty-four (24) hours of booking to confirm enrolment.

To cease swimming lessons at Strong Start Swim School, families must provide a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice prior to the next scheduled direct debit date. Notice must be submitted in writing via email to info@strongstartswimschool.com.au. Verbal notice to staff or phone calls will not be accepted. Email must include reason for cancellation, children's and caregiver's full name, lesson day/time of which you wish to cancel.

Strong Start Swim School operates swimming lessons on a continuous, year-round basis and your booking will continue unless written cancellation notice is received in accordance with this Cancellation Policy.

If the required two (2) week notice is not met, the following month's fees will be charged in full and lessons will continue for that billing period.

No credits, refunds or make-up lessons will be provided for missed lessons or no-shows regardless of reason (including medical reasons, holidays, or any other personal circumstances). Refunds will not be issued for instructor or pool changes.

All outstanding make-up lessons are to be redeemed before the booking is cancelled; any make-up lessons outstanding will not be redeemable after the cancellation date.

Lessons and enrolments are non-transferable and cannot be transferred to another child or family under any circumstances.

All outstanding fees must be paid in full prior to cancellation being accepted.

Management reserves the right to terminate any membership if the member is not adhering to the following: The conduct of the member is detrimental to the centre, disruptive, harassing, threatening, abusive, rude or intimidating to other users or to facility staff. The member has breached the facility rules and regulations, or any condition, rule or regulation of the facility as posted within the centre.

All members will receive unlimited make-up classes provided at least 2 hours' notice is provided via the Simply Swim app. Make-up lessons can only be booked a maximum of 3 days in advance via the app. Once you mark the student as absent this cannot be changed. Marked absences less than 2 hours prior to the booked class will not result in a make-up lesson. Make-up classes must then be booked online via our Swim School app.

Make-up classes are subject to availability and can be viewed via the app. Make-up classes must be used in the calendar year (365 days from missed lesson). Unused make-up classes will not be carried into a new year. Make-up lessons expire upon cancellation from our swim school program and cannot be used after your cancellation has been processed. Make-up lessons cannot be transferred between families or children.

At Strong Start Swim School, we prioritize the health and well-being of all our students, staff, and members. To maintain a safe and healthy environment, we have established the following policy regarding the exclusion of ill children from swimming lessons. This policy applies to all students, parents, and guardians who participate in swimming lessons at Strong Start Swim School.

Children or adults with any contagious or infectious illnesses or diseases will not be permitted to attend swimming lessons. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Diarrhea or vomiting: A minimum exclusion period of 14 days after the last episode of diarrhea or vomiting applies, as per NSW Health public pools policy.
  • Respiratory infections: such as coughing, sneezing, or runny nose
  • Skin infections: such as ringworm, impetigo, or conjunctivitis
  • Gastrointestinal infections: such as gastroenteritis or food poisoning
  • COVID-19: If you or any family members are self-isolating awaiting a COVID test result, or if someone in your household has tested positive to COVID, please stay home.

We encourage a minimum period of 72 hours illness-free (14 days for Gastroenteritis) before attending a swimming lesson. Staff reserve the right to ask your child to leave the Centre if they are sick or appear to be unwell. Failure to comply with this policy may result in your child being excluded from lessons.

Parents and guardians are responsible at all times for the supervision and safety of children in their care while on the Swim School premises. Children must not be left unattended in the centre at any time.

A responsible adult must accompany children under sixteen (16) years of age into the change rooms, with the accompanying adult being of the same gender as the child. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring children understand and follow all safety requirements.

No cameras or recording devices of any description are to be used in the facility at any time without Strong Start Swim School's permission. No camera of any description is permitted in the change rooms under any circumstances. Filming of lessons is not permitted in line with the Terms and Conditions of entry. On request, and if we have time, Management will be happy to take a photo/video of your child for you.

A staff member may be required to take photos or videos for the use of marketing material such as social media, website and newsletters. We will obtain permission prior to use of images.

All swimmers aged 3 and under or those 3 years and over who are not fully toilet trained must wear a disposable aqua nappy and neoprene swimming nappy on top to help reduce faecal incidents which lead to pool closures. Our recommended product is Happy Nappy or Little Kozzie by Vorgee, which meets our safety and hygiene standards. Parents wishing to use alternative brands must obtain prior approval from our swim school staff, as certain products do not provide adequate protection and are not suitable for use in our facilities. If you do not have the appropriate swimwear you will be asked to leave the water or swimming lesson.

NSW Department of Health protocols state that the pools must remain closed for a set period if a contamination has occurred. Strong Start will not provide refunds for unforeseen pool closures. A make-up lesson will be available to be booked via the Simply Swim app with a 365-day expiry from missed lesson. Strong Start will not provide refunds for any pool closures under any circumstance. Make-up lessons provided for pool closures can only be booked a maximum of 3 days in advance.

Parents and Caregivers are required to ensure their child's medical and health information is accurate and kept up to date via the Simply Swim app. Strong Start uses this information to support swimmer safety and respond to emergency situations. Where relevant, we encourage parents and caregivers to speak directly with the supervisor on duty about any medical, behavioural, or other information that may be helpful to the teaching team.

Strong Start Swim School will use email as the primary channel of communication. It is the member's responsibility to keep Strong Start Swim School informed of any changes of contact, bank accounts or credit card details. Change of bank/credit card details can be completed through the online booking portal.

These policies may be amended from time to time and are reviewed on a periodic basis. Where changes occur, participants will be notified accordingly. The most up-to-date version of our policies is always available on our app and online portal. Any questions or concerns regarding these policies should be directed to the Strong Start Management team.
